Effect of Sc Addition on High-Temperature Oxidation Performance of Al-Li Alloy

Aluminum–lithium alloys were treated by high-temperature oxidation. The oxidation kinetics analyzed weighing. surface morphology of the oxidized samples was observed FESEM scanning electron microscopy. A phase analysis conducted XRD. outcomes demonstrate that aluminum–lithium alloy with a Sc element is at high temperature under same conditions, improving resistance, weight increase from minimal, and kinetic reaction index decreased. resulting product Li2CO3. addition can prevent movement metal cations, improve resistance Al–Li to certain extent, oxide film more complete compact.
